CONCRERTO
2020
Both performers and choreographers, Aina Alegre and David Wampach are experimenting with scenic forms in which plastic work and movement research intertwine and intermingle. CONCRERTO is the first piece they have created as a duo, and is metamorphosis, exaggeration and exuberance of forms, festive, explosive and jubilant abandon. Aina Alegre and David Wampach are experimenting with scenic forms that stand out for their physical expressivity as much as for their plastic inventivity. Although they have known each other for ten years and have already worked together on several occasions, CONCRERTO is the first piece they have created as a pair. “Sharing, associating, criticizing, assuming our points of convergence and divergence”: these are the biases on which their creative relationship is based. Driven in depth by the excessive dynamics of the baroque style, CONCRERTO takes the form of a continuously unpredictable piece that mobilises – with equal importance – sound, voice and body, tending throughout towards a state of explosive and jubilant abandon. Coexisting within a common space, open to the possible, four male performers deploy a profusion of movements and sounds freed from any link of subordination. A combination of disparate pieces and situations “that proclaim exaggeration, emphasis and contrast”, CONCRERTO cannot be placed in any well-defined category. With multiple energy flows and an intrinsic dedication to overflow, the piece brings forth striking physical states and powerful bursts of sound. Text by Jérôme Provençal
