“Invited by the Marseille 2023 Festival to conceive a large-scale piece for a hundred amateurs, Aina Alegre imagined PARADES & DÉSOBÉISSANCES, an out-of-the-ordinary participatory project. inspired by major popular events such as celebrations and feasts, parades, processions and ritual gestures drawn from choreographic research conducted over the last ten years or so, which has given rise to the creation of a repertoire of several solos, duets and group pieces, presented in France and on international stages. Her work is essentially built around movement and contemporary fictions, while being strongly influenced by tradition and popular and democratic dances.

PARADES & DESOBEISSANCES was presented for the first time on June 17 & 18, 2023, opening the Marseille Festival at Fort Saint-Nicolas/Entrecasteaux.

This piece will be repeated in other contexts and architectures. What interests me in this project is to become one with different architectural heritages in order to give a new memory, a new energy to these diverse spaces through a collective, powerful and enjoyable dance.”
